Planning a Bat Mitzvah is both daunting and fun. I’ve already gone the Bar Mitzvah route with my son in 2005, but this life-cycle event and celebration has taken on a life of its own.
One day I was showing my daughter paper samples from an invitation company. They wouldn’t give us a sample of the actual invitation, but they would send us samples of the paper. I’m a quality-paper kind of gal, so that was important to me. We oohed and aahed over the pink and black and silver. The velvety texture, the glossy finish.
Then she looked at me and said “We have the party planned and I haven’t even started my lessons yet.” (They will begin in a week or so)
“And you know,” she added, “That’s what it’s all about.”
She gets it!!!!
Jewish mothers across the universe are kvelling.
